Pond Leveler
Wildlife Co-Existence
One of the solutions to manage beaver activity is the installation of a pond leveler, which helps regulate the water level of a beaver pond. The benefits of using a pond leveler include reducing the risk of flooding, reducing tree damage, and improving water quality. Controlling the water level makes maintaining a healthy balance between beaver habitat and human development possible. Additionally, a properly installed and maintained pond leveler can help prevent conflicts between beavers and humans, leading to peaceful coexistence between wildlife and communities.
Livestock Crossing
& Riparian Restoration
The project aimed to enhance the ecosystem by restoring the area's natural habitat and reducing livestock's impact on the environment. The implementation of exclusion fencing prevented livestock from entering and damaging sensitive riparian areas. Installing an off-site waterer facilitated water access for the livestock, reducing their impact on the water source. Reforestation activities aimed to increase the number of trees in the area, providing shade and improving water quality. The overall goal of the project was to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for both livestock and the ecosystem.
Soil Conservation
& Riparian Restoration
The project aims to improve the land's ability to mitigate erosion where two ephemeral waterways converge. We installed a log gabion of 100+ logs, a stone Zuni bowl, one wall rock dam, silt fences, live pole drains, and willow stakes to dissipate the water's velocity. Native grass seed was scattered, and with the help of the JFR, several hundred trees and shrubs have been planted, and ground cover in the riparian zone
Soil Conservation
In Ephemeral Waterways
The project aims to improve the land's ability to retain soil and prevent perimeter runoff during heavy rain events, using trees, shrubs, and ground cover as effective treatments. The placement of stones helps to channel and reduce the velocity of runoff, reducing soil erosion and preserving the land's natural resources.
